J-E-T-S

I'm a pretty big football fan, when it comes to the NFL. Mainly, because I'm a born and raised New York Jets fan, so I have to love them. The past few minutes, I've been sitting in my dorm room, anxiously hoping that the Jets would beat the Buffalo Bills, and lucky for me, they did.  I just thought I should let you all know that.

LOVE IT

So, I don't know if any people that I talk to in real life are here, but just so you all understand the title, I'll break it down. Whenever I see something, or someone says something that I think is really great to listen to, or really funny, I say "I love it." or "LOVE it!". It's kind of like my thing. I also say NBD or No Big a bunch, but that's really not pertinent in this context. My reason for the titles though, is that I'm really thankful to be home with all of my friends and to be able to sit and not have to worry about my bitch of a roommate.

I know I talked to all of you about remembering the true meaning of Thanksgiving, but it seems to have been lost in all of the drama that is inevitably BLACK FRIDAY. As I sit on a footstool, eating tortilla chips and really hating the new control system of  Skyward Sword (you all know of my Legend of Zelda addiction),I can't help but be excited for the tattoo I'm going to go out and get tomorrow, if my friend decides that he wants to stop being an asshat for a few hours.

While my weekend home has been pretty intense so far, with trying to catch up with people, and the constant (or as my father would argue, incessant) bickering with my mother, I have to wonder what everyone back at school is doing. While I really have almost nothing to complain about because I am lucky, it makes me wonder what everyone back at school is doing, because not everyone had the opportunity to go home for Thanksgiving. There are girls that I graduated high school with that weren't able to come home, and the soldiers who are stationed overseas aren't able to see their families, and to any one who has a brother, sister, spouse, father, mother, in-law, or friend serving in any branch of the military, I hope that this is a good holiday season for you, and I hope that who ever it may be gets home safely.

Also, if anyone serving our country does read this, thank you all so much for your hard work, dedication and loyalty, sacrifice, and determination. Like the World War 2 memorial says in DC, "Freedom isn't really free". Your sacrifice makes people like me and my family about to have the life that we do. I hope that you all make is home safely, and know that people still support you, even if they don't always show it. Have a wonderful holiday season, even if you are stationed overseas.

I Can't Wait

My life goes back to normal tomorrow afternoon when I go home, back to the city that never sleeps, which is pretty good, because neither can I. I know it's been too long since I last posted, but I wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, and make sure that you don't overlook the reason that we have the next few days away from work and school. It's because we all have something to be thankful for, even if we take advantage of it.

Just so you all know what I'm thankful for, I'll give you a list.

  1. My family-Even if we don't get along, they still stand by me, despite all of the stupid shit that I get into. They call me up to make sure that I'm alright, and they always want me to do the best that I can, even when I don't want to.
  2. My friends-Again, they stand by me, and my friends and I are close, and being separated for as long as I have is something that I can't exactly work with all the time. They make my life complete, from the facebook pictures and videos, to the late-night drunk texts and calls, and I don't know what I'd do without them.
  3. My music-As you all know, it keeps me grounded. It gives me something to draw the insanity out of my head, even when I feel like screaming and yelling.
  4. My childhood-Nobody has the perfect one, but we all do the best with what we can do. I'm glad that I don't have to grow up yet, or even all that quickly so that I can take the world and it's suckage in stride.
  5. My education-Yeah, going to school sucks, but it controls the way that we live, even if don't always see it.
  6. Being alive-I'm lucky to be from a middle-class family and that my family can provide for me in the ways that I'm not financially able to. I'm lucky to have grown up where I did, and I'm thankful that I was always given the opportunities that I wanted from life.
I hope that you all take the next few days to think about what makes you thankful and why. It's not always what we think it is, but let Thanksgiving help you reconnect with your family, give thanks, and forgive anyone whose done anything against you. This is the time to think about the past year, and think of ways that you can better yourself for the next year. If you get in a little Black Friday shopping, then I hope you get all that you want.

I won't give you guys any music tonight, just because I'm way to lazy, and I'm actually supposed to be studying for a test that I'm taking in like 8 hours.

A Ponderance

To all of you that have read this blog before, you know how much I love to watch television shows that get me thinking, and Fringe has definitely done it. It's kind of an old show, syndicated by FOX Network, but produced by the King of Science Fiction-J.J. Abhrams, whose genius is not lost on this show. It follows FBI Agents Olivia Dunham, who stumbles onto a new kind of science while investigating the crashing of an airplane, which leads her to a scientist named Walter Bishop, put into a mental institution because one of his experiments lead to the death of a young girl. His song, Peter is the only person who can understand what Walter is thinking, and with the help of a young agent named Astrid, the group works together trying to work on a series of events known only as "The Pattern". Walter was a specialist in fringe science before he was institutionalized, which was 17 years prior, causing him to miss most of Peter's life, which ultimately leads to some friction between the relationship that the two of them have. It's one of the only shows that makes it impossible for me to detect whose behind everything from watching the first couple minutes of the show, and the writers do such a fantastic job with the twists that they throw at the viewers.
If I had to rate it, I would definitely give it a 4.5 out of 5, simply because the way that the characters are developed, plus the way that some of the story arcs are put into the show, some are never resolved, and some are over too quickly.

If you've read this blog before, you would also know my feelings about the Twilight Saga, and how much it pisses me off. I have to say that Christina Perry has written a beautiful song to be the theme of the fourth movie. If you haven't seen the commercials, then you've probably never heard the song before, but then again, you're probably also living under a rock, and have thusly never heard of Twilight. For all of you who HAVE seen the commercial for the fourth movie, you've heard a snippet of the new song, entitled "For A Thousand Years" and it's actually amazing. I've had it on repeat for the past few hours because it's so enchanting. It's like that song that helps you get to sleep, but you don't want to while listening to it because it's so beautiful. I'm not really even a huge fan of hers, but this song is pure gold.

So, that's really the only song I have for you right now, but I hope that you all like it.

deuces.

What's cooking good looking?

Since I've been listening to All Time Low on repeat for the past few days, I don't really have any new music for you. Yeah, I can tell that you're all bummed, but whatever. Yesterday, I learned that one of my favorite actors is a Jets fan. To all you football people, it's the NEW YORK JETS, and those are my boys. Oh, and the actor is Dule Hill, the guy that plays Burton Guster (Gus) on the USANetwork syndicated show "Psych" which I've told you all that I'm in love with. Following these actors on twitter is always a good thing because you get to learn little things (like sports affiliation) that you wouldn't necessarily know.  Hill is a Jets fan because he's from New Jersey, and even though I'm not too huge of a fan of the state, it's still AMAZING that we like the same team.
ANYWAYS, I hope that you all have a fantastic Monday, even though ti is the worst day of the week.

Brokedown hearted wonderland

I've spent the last few hours cleaning my half of my dorm while listening to music that's really all over the place. I just wanted to check in and see if any of you actually read part of the Inheritance Cycle, but then I realized that anyone reading the books would be reading and not on the computer! Yeah, I'm clever. Anyways, I just placed a pre-order in for the fourth one, and I'm REALLY excited for the 8th. You have no idea.

Let's Kick It?

I would go on about politics or who knows what else, but since it is 1:17 in the morning as I start this, I thought that I should let you all know that I'm EXCITED. This is gonna be a big post for all of you who read the Eragon books by Christopher Paolini.

For all of you who don't know about them, I have to ask you a question:Do you live under a rock? For everyone else: Some minor stuff you should know.
  1. Paolini started the series when he was 16, and since that was about 8 years ago, you can tell that it's gotten pretty big in 8 years.
  2. The series consists of 4 books, the last (number 4) will be published on November 8, 2011.
  3. For anyone else whose pretty big into science fiction and fantasy books, you'll notice tons of parallels to Lord of the Rings, A Song of Fire and Ice (Game of Thrones) and some other fantasy series.
  4. It's much better written than the Twilight books, but then again, it's not too difficult to be better written than Twilight.
The series follows Eragon, a young man who lives with his uncle and cousin in a small town in the northern end of Alagaesia. Eragon has no idea who his parents are, only that his mother gave birth to him and then vanished. They live in a world controlled by an evil dictator named Galbatorix, the last of the Dragon Riders, who were a symbol of prosperity, wealth, and authority. Twisted by greed and the loss of his original dragon, he goes mad and craves only power. He kills the remaining riders who don't swear allegiance to him, and he kills the leader of the riders, but keeps 3 eggs, and these eggs are the last of the Dragons.

Our story begins with Eragon, a hunter in the mountains who finds a strange stone that no one wants to buy. Eventually, it hatches and a blue dragon binds itself to Eragon, who hides it from his family and the rest of the village. When his cousin takes a job in the next town over, he leaves, but a few days later, his home is burned to the ground and his uncle is killed. People being to ask questions, and he leaves with the storyteller Brom, who claims that he's only in it for the story to tell, but many questions quickly surround, but Eragon's dragon Saphira urges him to trust Brom and learn all that he can. Eragon begins to have visions of a red haired woman who he learns is kept in captivity.

Oh yeah, and that's just the first quarter of the book. It gets better, but you have to read it so that I don't spoil everything for you. The book is incredibly written and you can tell that Paolini has invested himself into his characters. They grow quickly, but you fall in love with them. If you haven't already gotten the books, then I suggest you go out an buy them. Any fans of Harry Potter with fall in love with Eragon and his companions over the course of the series. Again though, the fourth and final book of the series will be released on November 8th, and I recommend that you all go and get it.  Plus, I give the whole series a 5 out of 5 because of it's style, storyline, and characters. It's got it all-action, drama, romance, the whole 9 yards.

Almost Alice?

As I'm currently listening to the ALMOST ALICE(Song Inspired by the Movie) soundtrack, I realize how creepy it is, but how excited I am that a bunch of my favorite artists are on there. So, since I've been listening to it on repeat, I figure I'l review it.

  17. Welcome to Mystery-PLAIN WHITE T'S
  18. Where's My Angel-METRO STATION
RATING:4.8 stars
SONGS TO LOOK FOR:All of them

I'm in love with this album, simply because it rocks. The reason that I knocked the .2 stars off is because it's kinda creepy and there's just one song I don't like, and it's "In Transit". Every other song on here is great to listen to, even though it is pretty creepy. I do have some favorites on here, and those are "Painting Flowers", "Welcome to Mystery", "Alice" and "Always Running Out of Time".  Plus, I actually bought this whole album on iTunes, and it's a great deal. You pay 10 bucks for 18 songs, which is pretty good.  You should all be shocked simply because I actually bought it on iTunes. I would recommend listening on YouTube, but a fan of any of these bands would like the songs they did. The bands did a fantastic job capturing the essence of the movie and putting it into a song. It's really catchy and I know that I have "Painting Flowers" stuck in my head until I learned all the words.

I hope you guys take the time to listen to the album and buy it. Plus, I updated the monthly playlist today, so if you guys wanna check it out, go ahead.

see you guys on the flip side of the pillow.

Something That I Tell Myself I Need

For all of you that have read this before, you should all know that I’ve mentioned "Grace Potter and the Nocturnals” before. I think it was sometime last year? Anyways, I’m currently in love with another song by her that you should definitely check out if you haven’t already listened to it. It’s called “Something That I Want” and it was the ending credits song for the Disney movie “Tangled”. This post is also 6 hours earlier than my usual posts, so you’ll have to bear with me if I post again. Today’s been a throwback day for me, musically. It’s mainly because I’ve been listened to a lot of the music that I’ve ignored while I scour the internet for new music. I’ve been going back through the old Hey Monday, Boys like Girls, and even some old 80’s rock. It’s been quite the experience for me, just because I forget how much I like a song when I constantly skip over it when I’m listening to my iPod, trying to learn all the words to a new song. I also spend way too much time working on bracelets, but it makes watching scary movies much easier since I have something to fidget with. I’ve also officially been at college for a month. It’s scary how fast time flies by. That also means that I turn 18 soon, which has me very excited, since that means that I’ll be able to vote, drive in the state of Ohio, gamble, and partake in activities after 12. I only wish that I was able to spend some time with my sisters before their birthdays, since they’ll be turning 16 in 2 weeks.

I also want to tell you all about this band that I found recently called Darling Parade. They’re like Hey Monday mixed in with some All Time Low, and some Newfound Glory. They’re really good, and they’re also going to have the only songs that I recommend you go out and listen to.

She lives at night and sleeps all day

As you all know, I'm a huge nerd. Seeing as how you all know this fact, none of you should be surprised that my phone now has the triforce on the back of it. Also, I got some new music today. Yeah, you'e probably also curious as to why all of my posts take place after 12 AM (minus this one) and that just happens to be when I'm awake, since I sleep practically all day. I'm not even joking, which is the sad part. Anyways, music for today:

A Review? What?

Tonight, you guys are going to get TWO reviews! An Album review (Everything's Fine by The Summer Set) and a Series review!(Not TV, a book series that's gotten pretty popular-The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins)
FIRST OFF: The Album

ALBUM:Everything's Fine
ARTIST:The Summer Set
SONG LIST:
  1. About A Girl
  2. When We Were Young
  3. Someone Like You
  4. Back to the Start
  5. Must be the Music
  6. Thick as Thieves
  7. Mannequin
  8. Mona Lisa
  9. Begin Again
  10. Love to You
  11. Don't Let Me Go
RATING:4.5 Stars
SONGS TO LOOK FOR:Thick as Thieves, Someone Like You, Begin Again, About A Girl

I love this band with a passion, because I think that they're great. While I'm not a huge fan of this particular album, there are some super catchy songs on here that make up for the fact that it's not as good as Love Like This (which I reviewed back in April). "About A Girl" is a slow love song that I listen to on repeat for insane amounts of time, but "Someone Like You" is fast, catchy, and upbeat. Trust me, you'll get it stuck in your head for days (if not weeks) at a time. "Must be the Music" is a great song to listen to when you want to get ready for a party (or wake up in the morning), but "Thick As Thieves" is catchy enough to make you want to listen, but slow enough to calm you down. "Begin Again" is my favorite song on the album because of the lyrics. It's fast-paced, and it just lets you know that you can screw up as many times as it takes, but you can still move forward. Brian Dales(the lead singer) said that this song was the song that let him know they were ready to move on, and that it's the most similar to the first album.

SECONDLY: A book review!

THE BOOK-The Hunger Games
THE AUTHOR-Suzanne Collins
RATING-5 stars
This book, or rather series, is one of the greatest series that I have had the opportunity to read in a long time and I have to admit that my main reason for loving it was the setting. For those of you unfamiliar with the series (shame on you!), it's about the future of the United States after a devastating event that destroys almost all life, except for one city called Panem and 13 surrounding colonies. Panem decides that they want to control everything, so they wage war, and the 13 districts are eventually defeated and put under Panem's control. The 13th district is eventually destroyed, and is used as an example, much like the Hunger Games.  The Hunger Games are Panem's way of showing that they still control the 12 districts and can destroy them with ease if they really wanted. The rules are simple: 2 representatives from each of the districts are sent to the Capitol City where they'll fight the other 22 contestants to the death in an arena that can be controlled. The book is fantastic, fast-paced and addicting. I read the book in a little more than 2 hours and quickly jumped onto the second book. It's entertaining and definitely worth picking up at a bookstore or a library.

I feel like I'm the worst person to write summaries, just because I don't know what to leave out or what to put in. Anyways, I hope you all grab "The Hunger Games" and read them as quickly as you. Literally, you don't want to put these books down because they get to be addicting.

deuces.

You’re always on my mind

I did a lot of thinking after my exam today, mainly about video games. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not a huge gamer, but I dabble. I’m a huge an of the "Legend of Zelda” games, and a group of friends are thinking about getting the triforce tattooed, just because it’s a triangle with 4 triangles, and it looks really cool. I already have a design in mind that someone else has, and I was doodling it after I finished my test. It’s currently on my wrist, but I’m thinking about getting it somewhere that I can hide easily if I have to, like my shoulder blade or right behind my ear. I figure that if I do decide to become a lawyer, I can’t exactly have a video game reference anywhere visible on my body. I do like the design. tattoo-triforce

Do you like that? It’s really cool and it’s like flowery enough that I could pass is off for something, and my sisters and I are thinking about getting it if my friends decide not to, just because there are 3 of us, so it would be symbolic. It actually makes me really excited for my birthday in November, just because then I can get it!

What I plan on doing today is going over the Legend of Zelda games (in order!), and I’ll let you know which ones I’ve played, and which ones I haven’t. I’m leaving out the ones that weren’t released on Wii, Gamecube, or N64.

The Adventure of Link •This is one of the games I haven’t played. Yes, it’s the first one in the whole series, but the effects make me want to vomit. It gives me a headache, and I know that any true fan would have at least played part of it, but I’m part of the generation AFTER pong, when graphics were beginning to get fantastic. I also haven’t played the second one, so I’m leaving it out.

Ocarina of Time • This is the game that everyone associates with the Legend of Zelda, mainly because it was revolutionary. Truly, it was. The first game to allow auto-targeting, and the game that my friends and I grew up on, mainly because when the Gamecube was first released by Nintendo©, they released the first four games on one disc, including a 15 minute preview of Wind Waker. I love this game, even though it takes a LONG time to beat, because you have to beat each temple twice, and if you miss something (like a heart container) when you’re Young Link, you can’t get it later. It has one of the better storylines, and it sets the scene for Majora’s Mask, (which is one of the only games in the series that takes place almost immediately afterwards.) Plus, it sets the tone for Twilight Princess. This is also where you meet Navi, and anyone whose played this game can tell you-“Hey! Listen!” quickly becomes one of your least favorite sayings in the whole world because you hear it so often.

Majora's Mask •The way to think of Majora’s Mask is that you live the same 3 days over and over again until you beat all the temples and fight Skullkid (multiple times.) Like I mentioned earlier, this is one of the only games that has a continuing storyline almost directly after it’s predecessor. I’ll admit that this one was actually my least favorite of the 4 games that I have played. Many would argue that this is their number two (put behind either Twilight Princess or Ocarina of Time) but it never appealed to me, simply because I felt like I was playing the videogame while watching Groundhog Day. It drove me crazy, and the storyline didn’t thrill me. The fairy drove me CRAZY and I actually muted the game, even though you need the music. The best part about it was that you had a bank account, even though sometimes it would reset itself with the time changes, but it was still handy since you didn’t have to spend all of you rupees. Oh, and getting the ocarina back after it was stolen was the most obnoxious part of the game… and so were the kids whose clubhouse you have to get into.

The Wind Waker • Now, this game is always on the bottom of anyone whose played the game, simply because the story line doesn’t really relate to the other games, simply giving you the green robes as a “right of passage” and you have an actual family in this one. It’s shocking, I know, but there’s pirates, so that makes up for it. The best part about this game is Tetra, who acts like your fairy, but only when you’re doing things that pertain to her. It’s great. While this game gets really frustrating because you do A TON of sailing around the ocean on a little tiny boat (whose incredibly integral to the story, and who everyone seems to know) and I always managed to get lost when I was playing because you have to constantly open the map up. The twist in this game is CRAZY and I wouldn’t have seen it coming if one of my friends hadn’t spoiled the whole damn game for me by telling, so I won’t ruin that surprise for you. Wind Waker definitely tops Majora’s Mask for me. It would be on the top of my list if they hadn’t released Twilight Princess. The only good part about this one is that it does have a continuation to it, but only if you bought if for the DS, which was a great way to make money, but since my friends didn’t play, I didn’t bother getting it.

Twilight Princess • Midna makes the game. While this is the most innovative of the games, because it was released for the Wii AND it had a whole new story line that had some aspects of Ocarina of Time. The shape-shifting made the game a tad frustrating because you would have to go through some areas more than once, but it was so worth it. This storyline was my favorite, mainly because it was so much cooler than the rest. Sure, I got stuck on the water temple, because for some reason, in every Zelda game, the water temple is the worst. You think that I’m kidding? I’m not. Ask anyone whose played more than one game. It’s horrible. Anyways, the boss battles were intense and were actually pretty fun. Oh, and if you attack the chickens, they don’t attack you like they do in the other games. Back to Midna: She’s probably one of the only “supporting” characters that actually has a back story. SPOILER: She’s the Twilight Princess and that’s the reason that everyone loves her. That, and the fact that she’s a badass.

Also, for those of you who have never played a Legend of Zelda game (shame on you!), you have to know the most important thing in every game (except Majora’s Mask). The triforce (that triange thing I want to get tattooed) is the whole story line. It’s basically the place where the three goddesses (Nayru, Din, and Farore) who created Hyrule (the kingdom you play the hero of) left the planet to go back to the heavens. They each represent either wisdom, courage, or power, and since you’re the chosen hero of the goddesses, you have to defend Hyrule from Ganon (in some games, he’s Ganondorf), whose the wielder of the triforce of power. In some of the games, Zelda (triforce of wisdom), acts as a Sage, who allows you to gain access to the actual triforce, but in others, she’s just a magical princess (like Twilight Princess). You also have to understand that there’s more than one race of “people”. I say “people” because I don’t exactly know how to describe the other races if you haven’t played the game.

I recommend finding and playing one of the games ASAP if you haven’t already. They keep moving and are pretty fun to play. My warning:DON’T save in the middle of a temple because you’'ll have to do everything over again unless you leave the game running on pause (which doesn’t actually do anything, since it still runs your clock). Either beat the temple, or don’t start it if you’re going to have to go somewhere within the 30 minutes to the hour that it will inevitably take you to beat it.

It's a Problem

So, I have this thing where every time someone says "I did so good!", I automatically say "Well". It's horrible because people assume that I'm going to say something else, when in reality, I'm just correcting their grammar. I always feel a little bit bad about it afterwards, but then there are the douchebags who just don't like to speak correctly. It's a huge problem, especially at my school. Even if I'm not in the conversation, I still correct it. It just doesn't sound right to say that you did good rather than you did will. I hate to say things that don't sound right, and I correct myself pretty quickly if I notice that something wasn't totally right with what I just said. My best friends, who we'll refer to as "Gingerbread", always tells me to shut up when I go to correct someone, but since she's not in Ohio with me, I just say it anyways.

You're probably thinking that I'm neurotic, and I would have to agree with you, mainly because I do two other things oddly.
1)I eat my M&M's by color. Brown, Orange, Yellow, Red, Blue, Green.
2)I listen to music when I'm doing everything. This is mainly because I get distracted otherwise, which is pretty weird. (also, I can't spell weird without double-checking to make sure that I've spelled it right.)

I do understand that now that I've revealed this to you, you all probably think that I'm ridiculous, and I totally understand if you don't want to read this blog again, mainly because I wouldn't want to, especially after I made that whole big rant about "Castle" and how excited I was for it. I know that I told you all that I was going to talk about things that are slightly more important in life, but I just couldn't help myself. I was pretty disappointed in the premier though. My sister thought it was crazy, but I was expecting more from it. I understand that they aren't HBO who can make a show go for an entire hour and not have to deal with any commercials, but still. It was disappointing to me.

Another thing that you could be wondering: why am I posting this at 3 in the morning? I'll tell you why. I have to read this book called "The Great Risk Shift:The New Economic Insecurity and the Decline of the American Dream" for my American Politics class that I'm taking this semester. To all of you who were reading my blog back in March and April, do you remember me telling you a little bit about my Honor Economics class? Well, this professor is EXACTLY the same as my Economics teacher, which is a little unnerving now that I think about it. The book I have to read isn't horrible, but considering that I have a test to take in less than 10 hours, I'm not one to want to read this, even though I'm going to get asked about it on the test. So, my plan is to stay up all night (mainly so that I don't sleep through this class-again), go to the gym in the morning, get myself a coffee, take this test and then go to German class so that I can review for the test that I have to take tomorrow. Yeah, sounds super fun. Then again, that's the story of my life.

I actually called this blog "The Story of My Life" for a while, but then realized that it was a stupid name for a blog that talked about the things that I talked about, so I changed it. I don't remember what I changed it to, but I do know that I changed it. Sleeping has become a huge problem for me now. I sleep TOO much, but it's not even because I have early classes (there's one that starts at 9:15 twice a week, but I already took American History, and I got a 4 on the AP, so it's kind of a joke for me). I don't know why. I used to go to sleep later than this when I was at home, and I would have to get up earlier than I do now. It's unsettling.

Enough about me. Here's the music! (some throwbacks from old posts):

19 hours and counting....

Now, you're all probably like "NO WAY. TWICE IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS." I just had to get this off my chest. All you "Castle" Fans out there, spoilers will be said within the next 2 sentences, so I recommend not reading this post until after you're all caught up. Oh, and if you're looking for music, don't expect it in this post.

Ready? Okay. With season 4 premiering in less than 24 hours, I'm squealing over the fact that a)Beckett was not shot fatally and b)those 3 magical words are in the air. While I'm not one to have already seen the episode (but trust me, I wish that I was one of those lucky people), I've been doing my research. From what I've read on the internet from those who have seen the episode (I ENVY YOU), Beckett and Castle will address those 3 lovely words that we're all so glad Rick finally got around to saying, even though it was in the last 10 seconds of the episode, right after our darling Kate was shot. Unfortunately for the fans who want the two to end up as a couple, you will be sadly disappointed, but don't give up yet! Nathan Fillion (who portrays Richard Castle so that we all love his rugged handsomeness, his charm, and his comedic timing) has said that he wants Beckett and Castle to have a drunken night of passion, and then to see where it goes from there. Stana Katic (our lovely Detective Kate Beckett) on the other hand, is not a huge supporter of the two coupling up. What's happened so far between this pair? Castle laid his cards out on the table TWICE during the epic season finale, telling Kate that he not only doesn't know what the two of them are, but that he loves her. I'm so in love with this couple, it's not even funny. You should hear me when I'm back home. I got both of my sisters to watch the show and we would wait up and watch, not one of us even tired, even though we had school the next day. This relationship keeps the show going, but from the moment that these two kissed when Ryan and Esposito were kidnapped, then Castle telling Beckett that she was "the mystery [he] was never going to solve", and then into the stunning admittance of his true feelings, we all know that we want more. What I do have to add to this relationship is that Josh is toast, which of course should make the pair free to do whatever they please, but alas. Castle, being the ultimate playboy, can't resist an attractive woman's charms, will be put to the test this season, especially seeing as how the pair isn't actually dating. Beckett likes Castle all to herself and seeing him with another woman, even if it's not serious, is (hopefully) going to drive here crazy.
Now, Andrew Marlow, the show's creator (the man whom all of us love so dearly for creating such a wonderful and fantastic show) has said it himself:Kate wasn't wearing a vest. That's right folks; she was NOT wearing a vest when she was shot. Of course, we have to keep Josh around to make Rick feel guilty about causing all of this, because let's be honest here, he was the one who pushed Kate into all of this. You're probably going to hate me for saying this, but Castle is partially to blame. Back in the ending of season 1 when he tells Beckett that she has to figure this out, it leads to the death of Montgomery and Beckett being shot. Marlow also said that they had been planning on taking Captain Montgomery off the show since January, and that they gave him a noble death, even though he was the 3rd cop.
What are we to expect for the rest of season 4? It's not supposed to be nearly as dark as season 3 was, mainly because they've got some more themed episodes. Unfortunately for us "Firefly" fans, Captain Mal Reynolds will NOT being making a cameo appearance, even thought I wish he would. We're also going to learn Alexis' true feelings for daddy-dearest on the job very early on in the season.Hint:she's not a huge fan, though she loves Beckett. What can we expect for Martha? Not too much, other than the fact that she and Castle will be on the wrong side of a robbery while she's trying to get a loan for her acting school. On the family front, we'll be learning the identity of Papa Castle, the big mystery for the ages among us Castle fans. Oh, and Ryan's wedding? As it turns out, our bromance may go through a rough patch when Ryan thinks about making Castle his best man, and not Esposito. Marlow has announced that it's going to come down to who can throw the best Bachelor party. Jenny's going to be bride-zilla, even though the two are already married in real life. The wedding is going to put a HUGE strain on Lanie and Esposito because Lanie starts talking about it.... Oh, and she won't get along to well with Jenny.
Onto the last thing that I know you're all wondering about. Who did the late captain send that envelope to? Marlow has announced that it's going to be addressed almost immediately, though I still don't know who it is, mainly because everyone whose seen the episode has been threatened with beheading if they admit anything. My money is on either Castle or Beckett's father. I guess I'll have to wait until tonight, thought I don't know if I can actually do that.

SO GLAD THAT I GOT THAT OFF MY CHEST. I hope you all enjoyed my take on the season premier, even though that's A TON of information that I've just laid on you guys. Also note-Marlow has no intention of becoming "Bones" simply because he doesn't want this relationship dragged out too much. One of the things we can love about ABC Network and not Fox.
I'm fully aware that this is an unusual post for me, but I needed to get it all out into the open. I hope all you "Castle" fans like it, even if you read this later.
Later Alligators.

No One Sees You Like I Do

My mother drives me crazy. Even from 600 miles away, she still manages to ruin my day. It wasn’t even anything big. It’s just that at my college, it’s a huge suit case campus, which means that a lot of people live close to home, so they go home on the weekends, which would be nice. But I’m 8 and a half hours away. So when I told my mother that I was planning to take a bus home, she automatically assumed that it was because I had no friends. Even though I told her that all my friends go home to work on the weekends. Why she took that to mean that I have no friends ever still makes no sense to me. Then she took my frustration to mean that I wasn’t happy at school. I’m quite happy at school because it means that I don’t have to be close to her. Don’t get me wrong, I love her. She’s just drives me crazy. I’m pretty sure that it’s the same for almost everyone. It’s okay, it’s completely private here, so you don’t have to worry about it. I just can’t handle it sometimes. I mean, now I am waiting for some of my friends to get back to campus so that I can go for dinner, but it’s nbd.

I’m also going to assumed that if I get no album suggestions before Wednesday that I’m going to review “Everything’s Fine” by The Summer Set. Also, if you guys haven’t read any of Chelsea Handler’s books, I fully suggest that you change that. She’s actually hilarious. I just read “Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me” and I literally could not contain my laughter. It’s a bunch of stories written by her friends and family, and it’s hysterical. Anyways, I hope that you guys take the time to read it, on your kindle, nook, other e-reader, or who knows, the actual book. They do still make those.

I’m also counting down the days until my birthday. Why? Not only because it’ll be my 18th birthday, but it’s also the day that Christopher' Paolini’s conclusion to the Inheritance Cycle, which I have read faithfully from the day that “Eragon” was released in the bookstores. It seems fitting that it’s released on my 18th birthday. For all of you that read the books, you understand what a big deal this is. For all of you that saw the movie and didn’t read the book, they murdered the book, and I recommend reading it because of how the characters are developed, the storyline is wonderful, and the fact that it was written by a 16 year old makes it that much more impressive.

While I usually rant about politics or music, I felt that I should try to make literacy more appealing to the masses, but if you’re reading this, then there’s a very high chance that you don’t really need to worry about literacy. I mean, unless you’re blind, in which case I apologize for making that assumption. Anyways, MUSIC TIME!

A Daydream Away

So, I’ve recently started watching a show called “Covert Affairs”. If you aren’t a big fan of USA Network, then this is NOT the blog for you. I watch Psych(Shawn and Gus make me swoon), Royal Pains(I love Evan), White Collar (Neal Caffery makes my life), Suits(you know me and law shows), Fairly Legal (I love Michael) and now Covert Affairs. Now that I think about it, there are only 2 shows that I don’t watch that USA runs. If you can figure them out, then that’s some money to you, but if you can’t then I’ll just tell you. It’s Burn Notice and In Plain Sight, but that’s not because I don’t like them. I haven’t actually watched any episodes of either, but I think that I’m going to watch Burn Notice, and then In Plain Sight, mainly because that order would piss off one mf my guy friends whose in LOVE with Burn Notice, and I have a strange thing that I just love to piss this guy off. It’s a hobby that can keep me entertained for days. Back to Covert Affairs, I’m in love with Auggie, which is partially my reason for even watching the show after the pilot. I’m a huge TV person, but nothing has me more excited than the premier of the fourth season of Castle this coming Monday. Nathan Fillion, who is probably one of the most talented actors (in my opinion) and I think that he’s so much like Alec Baldwin. I mean, seriously, the similarities between the way that those two look has to be more than coincidence. It’s almost creepy. I thought that the two were related when I first saw “Firefly”. Then the 6th season of Psych (swoon) has me about ready to chew my nails off because I have a little less than a month left for that premier. This is actually the only show in USA Network history to make it to a 6th season, and I think that they could get at least 3 more seasons in if they don’t fall prey to the moonlighting curse. Bones has me pretty excited too, but I’m only going to get 6 episodes in before they have a hiatus for a few months while Emily Deschannel gets accustomed to her new baby. Glee and Bones are the only 2 FOX network shows that I watch, which most of my friends make fun of me for. I like Fringe, but that’s about it.

Anyways, off of TV. I figure that some songs I’ll give you are:

Opposites Distract

"We fall between the cracks, forget about each other til we get each other back." This song by All Time Low has been on my mind forever. It's "Just the Way I'm Not". It's one of the songs off their new album "Dirty Work" which was the tour that I got to see back in March, which you would know about if you were reading back then. Anyways, I felt like a good review of the album would make you guys happy, seeing as how I haven't reviewed an album in FOREVER. If you guys have any suggestions for an album, post it. Otherwise, it'll be "Everything's Fine" by the Summer Set.

ALBUM:Dirty Work
ARTIST:All Time Low
Song List:

  1. I Feel Like Dancin'
  2. Bad Enough For You
  3. Time-Bomb
  4. Merry Christmas, Kiss My Ass
  5. Guts
  6. Heroes
  7. Just the Way I'm Not
  8. That Girl
  9. Under a Paper Moon
  10. Forget About It
  11. Do You Want Me (Dead)
  12. My Only One
  13. Get Down On Your Knees and Tell Me That You Love Me
  14. No Idea
  15. A Daydream Away
  16. Return the Favor
RATING:5 Stars
SONGS TO LOOK FOR: ALL OF THEM
This album is definitely a rare one, simply because I love all the songs on it. I'm a huge fan of these guys and they didn't disappoint.  Sure, there are some songs that I love more than others, but overall, it's golden. "A Daydream Away" and "No Idea" are perfect to listen to when you want to calm yourself down, but the fast "Forget About It" and "Get Down On Your Knees and Tell Me That You Love Me" get me pumped up for a party or to go out with friends. All Time Low has definitely hit the big time with the label change and the upbeat album. It's clear that the songs are all written from experience and it's wonderful.

I hope you guys get the album (I used the Deluxe Edition, available on iTunes). I'll try to get another review on here before the end of the month, but I'm a little unreliable when it comes to these things. Again, any album suggestions, post them and let me know what you want reviewed (from my opinion).

A Reflection

It's the 10 year anniversary of probably one of the most horrible things to happen on United States soil in it's history. Over 3,000 people were killed, but since it happened when I was in 3rd grade, I didn't exactly understand the gravity of the situation. I remember that we were listening to the radio during a spelling test, and then the song was interrupted. My teacher gasped but no one else in my class seemed to understand it. I remember getting home and trying to talk to my mom about it, but my dad had been sent into the city and my mom was worried. My dad was a police officer at the time, and I was so scared when my mom told me that something might happen. My best friend was crying because her aunt had been killed. It wasn't until the next day when things had been explained and the principal had gotten on the loud speaker and said that anyone who felt upset was allowed to leave class to go to the therapist, but elementary school kids don't always understand how situations can impact the rest of the country.

That's my story. It's not nearly as tragic as others, but I applaud all of the men and women who went to ground zero and did their jobs. To all of those who lost family members or friends in the tragic events of 9/11, my condolences go out to you. Also, I ask that everyone who reads this makes their facebook status the following paragraph:
On September 11th, 2001, 4 passenger jets crashed by the force of terrorism. The twin world trade centers were each hit with planes, a third into the Pentagon. A fourth plane never reached its destination, it was brought down by the brave souls on flight 93 that made the ultimate sacrifice . Almost 3,000 innocent people were killed that day, along with the first responders to the attacks as firemen, police, and paramedics. In remembrance of these brave men and women, post this is your status.

Forget about each other til we get each other back

So, it's been more than a month since my last post, but I thought that an update on college life would be nice for all you. I love it. It's great. My professors are all pretty cool, and this campus is amazing. Besides all the squirrels here, of course. Aside from that, it's fantastic. The freedom, the people, and all that.

Here are some songs to tide you all over:

100 BABY!

So.... this is post 100. I don't know what I should do about it, or if it should even be special. Maybe once I made plans, but I'm often unreliable. I know that I said I was going to be talking a little about what I believe, so here it goes.

I believe that every person has the right to do what makes them happy. I believe that every single person has the right to get laid and meet the person of their dreams. I also believe that the world is full of stupid people and that everyone has a niche, whether they like it or not. I believe in myself, and I believe in my friends, and I believe in music, and the power that it holds over us, both mentally and physically. I believe in the light spectrum, and love, and he pursuit of chocolate. I believe in beliefs and I believe in opinions. I believe in speaking your mind, doing whats right, and making sure that rabid koalas don't eat me. I believe in water, and the ability it has to make us feel safe and secure, even when we know that it's a terrible thing. I believe in the powers of observation (but not the mentalist, mainly because everyone knows that psych is the better show and that TNT is full of biters.) I believe in science and logic, math and numbers, and in the people who tell us that something is impossible.

I know that's alot to take in, and there's more. I was going to throw in a crack at religion, but then decided against it.... NOTE THAT I WAS THINKING IT THOUGH! it'll come back eventually. That's the main think with beliefs...

Now, an actual post

Since I just updated the monthly playlist, you can get some songs there. There are definitely some throwbacks in it, just because I was feeling pretty nostalgic when I was in the car the other day. Hey, it could be worse. I was jamming out to Jesse McCartney-be glad I didn't decide to put that on the list. So, my first college assignment is to read a book called "This I Believe", which has essays from an NPR series from the 1950's. The book has essays from Eleanor Roosevelt, Jackie Robinson, Albert Einstein, and others. The newer essays have titles like "Always be nice to the Pizza Delivery Guy", and it's gotten me to thinking about what I believe in . If you ever read my journal, which would be pretty creepy if you have,  I've spent the past few days debating on what I believe and how I could even think about putting it in words. I've been thinking about talking about what I believe in different aspects of life for the next couple weeks, but for tonight, I'm too lazy.

I'm Gonna Break Down These Walls

So, I'm way to lazy to post an album. I just wanted to let you all know that I wasn't dead, and that hopefully (keep those fingers crossed) I'll be posting more frequently, but I'm gonna change my rants a little bit, now that I've started thinking about philosophy, like Descartes "I think therefore I am". It's because of a book.

ALSO-I definitely recommend "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell". It's laugh of loud funny, and it makes you feel so much better about yourself. It also makes me feel good to know that when I do end up going to hell (because trust me, I'll be there withing a few years of Tucker Max) that the company is gonna be good.

Cause it's You and Me

So, I'm now officially done with AP's.... now if only those marked the end of school. My posting should stop being as erratic as it has been. But prom is next week, and then I'm going away for the weekend, so then again, maybe not. Oh, and you all might want to stay off the roads for a while, because I can drive, and to be quite honest, I get pretty frustrated with crappy drivers. I feel like what should be done is that every 20 years people should take the road test again, because in the past few weeks that I've been able to drive, I've almost gotten into like 6 accidents because people don't put their blinkers on, or they cut people off.

But, that's besides the point. I'll let you all relish that I'm posting again... all 7 of you.... -_-.
Don't be afraid to tell your friends about me!

I feel... tired

I really shouldn't even be posting at all, because I have an AP exam tomorrow that's actually made me start balding because of how nervous I am. I just wanted to let you know that next Monday, posts will resume as the usual, and that as of now, I am alive (but not well)

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

I keep telling you

At least once a week, I say that bullying is a major issue, but the stories are adding up. Two middle school girls in Minnesota committed suicide at a sleepover together a few weeks ago, leaving behind notes saying that they loved their families, but what's been left out of the story is that the pair was bulled over weight and hair color. Both were being treated for clinical depression, but according to the parents and friends, none of them saw anything different, and it was all on Facebook. One of the girls had just been expelled from school because she had been defending her friend. These two girls were victims of bullying, and they took their own lives because of what they felt everyday because of bullying. Just thought I should let you all know that.

GO GREEN!

So, I'm quite aware I missed Earth Day 2011 with you all, but next year I'll be able to join you (hopefully!) from Kent State University. Today, I wanted to talk to you all about recycling. I know that I'm so incredibly behind, but I'll throw in a review of Adele's "21" which is so incredibly orgasmic.
So, recycling. We hear about it all the time, and corporations are going green at ridiculous speeds, driving the prices of everything up. But why should you care? You should care because recycling and these other "going green" initiatives are helping to save the planet. We've hurt Mother Earth to the point where we exploit the natural resources until they're gone. When I last checked, 27 different species of both plant and animals were going extinct each day because the habitats that they live in are destroyed to the point of no return. In my AP Lit class today, we read a poem. I know you're probably thinking "she's in an English class, of course she's going to be reading.", but that's besides the point at the current moment. This poem, written by Norma Millay Ellis, and I doubt there's a relation to Edna St. Vincent Millay, but that's just speculation on my part. This poem, and the old AP exam my teacher took it from doesn't have a name, warns us about abusing Mother Nature. One line says "all this was done before; we do it better, fouling every shore" and it's true. There's a Barenaked Ladies song called "It's All Been Done", just I reference it more to let you know. The poem, with it's main theme being that we should study history because everything has been done, but by who and when it what changes.
Going green can save millions of gallons of water and oil, thousands (if not millions) of trees, and best of all, help to maintain healthier water ways. Some ways you can help save the planet:
-Buy organic foods. Then, there's no factory usage on what you're purchased and every animal is fed actual grass. Plus, it's healthier for you.
-Cut down your shower time. I've been working on it, but by cutting shower time, you have more time to yourself, plus you can save water.
-Invest in solar panels. This gives you a way to save money as well as the environment.
-Walk, bike, or carpool to places. It's healthy and you can save gas AND money.

I have two reasons for writing about it.
1)To let you know what you can do to take part in the green initiative.
2)I'm applying for a scholarship that you can vote for by clicking here:  http://www.castleink.com/_scholarship-thankyou.html

SONGS TO LOOK OUT FOR:"Set Fire to the Rain","Rolling in the Deep","Turning Tables"
SUMMARY: Adele's voice is wonderful and moving. She has a ballad touch to the entire album, but the catchy back beats make it wonderful to listen to because she's able to connect with everything that people think of, from leaving someone that you love to getting over someone that you used to be with. Her voice is unique and it's powerful, and you can never get used to it or immune to the passion that she sings with. While she was mentioned on the cover of "Rolling Stone" magazine this past month, they fail to get the true depth of her talent totally encompassed. From the slow beats of "Someone like You" to the fast-paced, rolling, piano notes of "Rolling in the Deep", this whole album is perfect for anything, other than to grind to.

Can't Make it Through this night alive

So, I got my first official rejection today.... From American University. OH WELL. ALBUM REVIEW TIME!

ALBUM:Love Like This
ARTIST: The Summer Set
SONG LIST:
1)The Boys You Do(Get Back At You)
2)Punch-Drunk Love
3)Chelsea
4)Young
5)Take It Slow
6)Can You Find Me?
7)Love Like This
8)Girls Freak Me Out
9)Passenger Seat
10)This is How We Live
11)Where Are You Now
12)Papercut
RATING: 4. 8 Stars (not actually based on anything)
SONGS TO LOOK FOR: "The Boys You Do(Get Back At You)", Chelsea, Love Like This, Girls Freak Me Out, Where Are You Now
The album has all sorts of different beats on it, from the ballad of Papercut, to the upbeat tempo of Chelsea. It's all over the place, and it's got a feel that you just have to love. My personal favorite song from the album is Chelsea because of the way that the band references the Plain White T's "Delilah" and Metro Station's "Kelsey". The feminine touch on Where Are You Now makes the song that much more enjoyable, and you have to love it. For a debut album, they kick ass with the variations (but mainly upbeat) tone of the album. You can tell that they love what they're doing, and having seen them live, they definitely do. This band is one to watch for, with the quirky songs and names of songs, to some of their new songs like Someone Like You, which will debut this summer on their new album, whose name is unknown at the moment.

I hope you liked it, and I'll be back next week. DEUCES. <3

You've made your bed

Now, you have to sleep in it. So, like I told you all last week, I made a twitter account. One of my followers on twitter is this band, and I'm really glad that they did. The band is called You Had Me At Six. They're kind of old, but the music is fantastic. If you're a fan of The Maine, or A Rocket to the Moon, which I would assume anyone who reads this likes them, then they're definitely the band for you.
You also might be wondering why I'm posting at noon on a weekday when I should be in school. It's because I'm home sick and it's not pleasant. At all. Especially because this is my second day home, and it's not fun.
I'm too lazy and tired to write about a rant, so I'll give you an extra long one next week.

Back to You

So, I know that I said I was going to start off with book reports, but I'm still in the midst of the book that I'm going to review-War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. I just wanted to let you know that nothing was wrong with me not reviewing a book, but I'm going to tell you all that you have to watch BONES.
In it's 6th season, it's a show about a forensic anthropologist named Temperance Brennan who works with FBI Agent Seeley Booth. This pair is chock full of sexual chemistry, and it's one of the best parts of the show to watch for. Brennan, or Bones works at the Jeffersonian with Angela Montenagro who is a facial re-constructionist, Jack Hodgins who is a forensic entomologist, Cameron Sorroyan who is an medical examiner (and the boss of the forensic department), and any one of the students that Bones takes from her graduate classes. They also work with FBI profiler Dr. Lance Sweets, who analyzes the dynamic between Booth and Brennan, especially after drama involving Brennan's father.
Much of the tension between Booth and Brennan, especially in the work dynamic comes from Brennan's analytical and almost overly logical look on life contrasted with Booth's "open heart" and his instinctual pull towards what he believes happened to the victim. Brennan likes to know the "how" of the victim's death, while Booth is almost obsessed with the "why". The pair rarely seems to agree on much, and the most common dispute that they seem to have is over religion, with Booth being a strict Catholic and Brennan being an atheist. Booth is also extremely noble and he views himself as the protector of the group, which makes sense because he used to be a Sniper in the Rangers, which comes back a lot during the investigations.
The only problem about the show is that you actually have to watch from the beginning and work your way through because much of the storyline is overlapping. They deal with drama concerning serial killer Howard Epps, then the serial killer nicknamed "Gormagon", and the loss of one of the members of the original team, Doctor Zach Addy. They deal with another serial killer nicknamed "The Gravedigger", who kidnaps Brennan and Hodgins, and then Booth. They also deal with the mystery behind Brennan's parents disappearance when she was little.
The show is very fast paced and definitely worth watching, though it's not for the weak hearted, or the squeamish.

I wish you were here

Since no one actually reads this, I wish you were all here. So, today I'm going to rant about the internet. I know that I keep coming back to it, but today, I have to rant about its ups and downs, because it has both.
UPS:
It provides information more quickly and makes writing papers easier in a way, and it can help provide study aids, especially for tests when they post previous ones on. Plus, it makes ordering things much easier. Writing letters are no longer necessary, and you can get responses and keep in touch with family much more quickly than we used to. You can connect with people from high school, or college, or catch up with a show that you missed. Unfortunately, there are more down points.

DOWNS:
It gives high schoolers an outlet for procrastination and now students don't even have to learn how to write because almost all of the assignments are supposed to be typed. They loose the ability to write or read hand written letters. It's made books obsolete, and many people spend too much time on the internet. I'll admit that I spend time on Facebook, or working on this lovely blog that no one actually reads, but the internet provides outlets for students to cheat and copy assignments by avoiding the basics that they need, like diction and syntax. Students loose this ability to have appropriate sentence structure because computers provide spell check so that people don't have to worry about it. I can spell quite well, and I have excellent grammar because I speak the exact same way that I type. I do use colloquialisms, and it is nice to be able to check myself, but I still know how to spell and how to appropriately structure sentences. Then there are things like the "smut list" that went all over the country because of cyber bullying, but students seem to think this is normal. Yes, it's exceptionally nice to be able to talk to my friends in college and make plans over the internet, because booking plane tickets, or concert tickets is easier, but that doesn't mean that people don't like to hold a book in their hands, or go to the library and read a book rather than get everything off the internet.

Let's face it though-if we didn't have the internet, we would at a different point of development, and people would loose track of each other.

He's made of money, but he's straight out the trash

So.... I found out that I got into Kent State University in Ohio as well as Hood College in Maryland. Kent was my 2nd choice, right after Albany, but I was waitlisted there. I'm not going for pity,  I was just letting you all know, since that what I said Mondays were going to be about. Me. Myself. So, I don't know if I told you, but I watched all of the show "Firefly", which now I'm seeing the characters all over the place, even though the show was cancelled, and I'm really upset. The show is fantastic, and you don't know how much I love it. Nathan Fillion is fantastic, and I love him to death. I at least get to see him on my other favorite show "Castle" which is about to go on, so I don't think that I can talk too much while I'm watching it, and when it's over it'll be too late, so I'll write for you all later, and I'm just happy that I have some ties to the fantastic show.

I'm really terrible at the this

Oh, you don't even know. So, I made a twitter. You can follow it, or you don't have to. Either way, I'm cool with it. My link is http://twitter.com/#!/amusicfanatic and my name is Devon Marie, but that's my first and middle name, so that's cool. I guess you could even stalk me, but I don't think I'm that interesting so that people would want to stalk me, but that's cool either way.
So, I promise to try and get back on track this coming week, I really promise to try, but I'm a forgetful person, as I'm sure anyone who reads this might have noticed, especially because I skip all over the place.

BUT, since I promised you an album review, I'll come through for you all on that front. Natasha Bedingfield's New album, called "Strip Me" is one of the better albums I've heard. It's catchy, it's moving, and it's pretty fantastic. My favorite song on the album is called "Weightless", and no it's not a cover of the All Time Low song that was on the album "Nothing Personal" which came out in November of 2009. It's one of the catchiest songs on the album, minus "Strip Me" which is really good as well. The album has a song featuring Rascal Flatts called "Easy" which is good, and has the country vibe, but I'm not too big a fan of it. It also features Kevin Rudolph for a song called "All I Need". It's full of feel good songs, like "No Mozart" or "Run-Run-Run", and I would recommend the album for everyone because it's overall fantastic, and she's truly outdone herself. Plus, if you ever get a chance to see her in concert, do it. She's fantastic live, and I saw her two summers ago, and she's got a great stage presence, which you all know I think is important to have a good concert. Only problem-you have to get the deluxe version, which is only available on iTunes, because it comes with all of the songs, or at least a good portion of them as acoustic, which is really good.

So, I hope you enjoyed the album review of the week, again I'm sorry I've been slacking, but here's the music that I've downloaded this week, which is also slacking.

I'm Sorry that I abandoned you all

I'm sorry guys. I was so excited because I'd been doing really well in keeing up with my posting, but there comes that week of your senior year when teachers decide they want you to remain in interested in school, even though you're already in college and you stopped caring a while ago. Oh, but last night was the ATL concert, and it was actually one of the best concerts I've even been to, and I've been to a couple. The environment was great, and I got to go crowd surfing... twice. It was so much fun, and it was truly amazing. The Summer Set ended on my favorite song by them, and they're just fantastic-I was just bummed my best friend wasn't there to see it with me. Hey Monday was fantastic, and Cassidy Pope has an incredible voice, and she kind of remind me of LIGHTS with the way that she talks on stage. Yellowcard was great, and they performed this song for a girl who died a few months ago because her friends were going to be there. All Time Low... was just amazing. They got up on stage and they told jokes and had bras thrown at the them, and it was literally so fun to just be in the audience to watch them perform because they're so fantastic live with a great stage presence that you don't really see in that many bands as a combination. I know it's a saturday, but I have to make up for my lack of posting over the week, so I'll just give you a really long list of songs to keep you all occupied.

Also, book review! The "39 Clues" Series. Really good. I just started it, but it's a bunch of different authors and they're working on a series. Yes, it's for children, but how many of us read the Percy Jackson books, or the Harry Potter books? Yeah, exactly. It's historical fiction, really well researched, and the story line in fantastic. Plus, it comes with trading cards, and you can work online with it.

Album Review! Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday". She's amazing, the album is an amazing collaboration with Young Money and a bunch of other artists, like Natasha Bedingfield, Eminem, Drake, and others. It's amazing, and songs to listen to off of it (in case you don't like her that much) are Last Chance (ft. Natasha Bedingfield), Roman's Revenge(ft. Eminem), and Fly(ft Rihanna). Next week will be Natasha Bedingfield's Album- Strip Me.

AND SO DAWNS A NEW ERA

Yes, I did get that from Lord of the Rings, but you know.... Nah, you probably don't.
Today's rant topic on politics is.... THE FEDERAL BUDGET. Yes, it's controversial, but that's because we can't cut things, like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. We also can't cut from the 748 BILLION dollars that was requested for the 2012 budget... yes, that's right. 748 BILLION. That's the equivalent of what we pay in Social Security.... Yeah, now I know you're all thinking "Why do we need this much money to go into defense? We aren't even being attacked!" And I would have to agree with you. None of this money is going to pay veterans benefits or their salaries-they're only proposed to have 125 billion dollars. Oh yeah, have I mentioned that in next years budget, we have a 1.5 TRILLION dollar defecit? Yeah, we're in the trillions now. These are all legit numbers, for the record. They come from the US Census Bureau, so I'm not making them up. Oh, by the way, if you aren't asking the aforementioned question, then you really shouldn't be reading my blog, because it's probably not "corrupt" enough for you. Jon Stewart says that we should look at our parties as corrupt and not corrupt, rather than liberal and conservative. We talked about this in my... HONORS ECONOMICS class, which I know I've been coming back to a lot, and I'm sorry, but it's truly a fun class. I really like it.
Back on topic though. Yeah, the way my group decided we should cut things-300 from social security (I know you can't actually cut from that), 300 from defense, 74 from medicare(again, I know) 25 from medicaid, and then scattered amount down, but we cut none from disaster relief and education, but you all should be aware of my feelings on education cuts by now, especially because I keep coming back to that, and I will until our education system is treated the way it should be-taken as seriously as defense and medicare, and the other top spenders of our government's money. But, our problem was, we were still short. Since we couldn't bring ourselves to cut from veterans benefits, or cut more than the 300 billion dollars we were already cutting from defense, we raised taxes. Yes, go ahead-complain. But, we really only taxed the top 1% of the population. For every 1% that we taxed them, we received 16 billion dollars... so we raised their taxes from 23% to 35%... bringing us all the money that we needed to "balance" the federal budget. Yes, I understand that may seem like a lot, and it probably is, but all the programs that we didn't cut from (which is only disaster relief with 11 billion and education with 71 billion-from a federal level) really wouldn't have given us enough, so we still would have had to increase taxes, or cut from our defense spending, and since one of the guys in our group was really for not cutting, we really didn't want to get into a debate about it, since that would have been obnoxious, and a serious time waster.
I may not have the same opinions, but I do make a valid point with what we cut. Most of our defense money is going into funding our allies, but we still haven't received all the money back that we invested during World War 2 under FDR's lend-and-lease program.... and if we were to actually collect and call on that... it might be enough to help us get out of the trillions of debt... yeah, really.

So I'll post more on politics on Thursday, and tomorrow.... is a book review day. I'll think of something.... who knows? Maybe I'll review Twilight, but rip it to shreds is more apropos.

SIGNING OFF-The music fanatic.

Sorry about that guys

So, along with some of the changes that I've decided to make, I'm only going to post on the weekdays, simply because my weekends are starting to get hectic. So, here's the new schedule:
Mondays-Rant about my life (or the story of my life... whatever you wanna call it)
Tuesdays-Rant about political stuff
Wednesdays-BOOK REVIEWS
Thursdays-Political Rant
Fridays-Album Reviews
I think that sounds fair, don't you? I'm not trying to overwork myself here, or make people check back every day for a rant, so this way, people who actually read this can give me feedback on a certain album, or any books, or political stuff and I have time to research it, and you can check back. I'll probably even post what I'm going to review for the next week. I'll try and vary things up a little, but some suggestions are always (as usual) much appreciated.
So, for today, I just wanted to say hi, and I'll start the "story of my life" next week.

EXTRA NOTE:I recently watched a video on someone's blog (if you wanna check it out, I recommend it-http://konradjuengling.blogspot.com/) about a gay man who stood up and "opposed" being impartial on a jury. He's pretty freaking awesome, and I totally agree with him because he stood up for what he believes in, and that's what I told you all to do on Friday.

I can break the chains that bind you

Metaphorically of course. I'm not actually that strong. So... I was wrong last night. It didn't happen, and so now I'm sad. I think that I should really just give up on BONES at this point, but we all know that isn't going to happen. I'm too obsessed, because now there's a promise that it's going to happen, and I can't just leave it at that. But I've picked up a new show, that's only just starting, so I would recommend picking it up now. It's called "Fairly Legal" and it's on USA. It's really fantastic, and the characters themselves get developed well within the first few episodes. Pretty much what I'm saying... start watching before there's too much for you to get caught up on. Today, I'm going to skip the rant, simply because I'm going to change things up a bit. I'll rant on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but every other day of the week, I'll tell you about my life. So that it's not overly redundant.

Top of the Morning to ya!

Yes, I am aware that it's not the morning, but even still, happy St. Patrick's Day! I have nothing against this "holiday" because it's not actually a holiday-it's really cultural diffusion at it's finest... and a grand excuse to party on a weekday and not get in trouble for it. Oh, I just wanted to apologize for not posting yesterday, but I didn't have anything to rant about, and I also got addicted to this game called "Entanglement", which I'm actually still playing... it's kind of pathetic actually.I've also been jamming out to the original songs that they did on GLEE this past week, because they were just phenomenal.
Oh, and Thursday is my favorite day of the week. Yeah, that sounds weird, I'm aware, but I have a valid reason. One of the webcomics I read, Looking for Group is updated on Thursday, and BONES comes out tonight. And I'm calling it-this week it's gonna happen. IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. I think it's going to every week, but this week-I'm positive about this one.

ANYWAYS, for a rant, I think today I'm going to talk about... myself. I'm going to give anyone that actually reads this a good insight as to what I'm thinking half the time... and yes, I can only tell you about half the time, because the other half of the time, I have no idea what I'm thinking, or I'm too lazy to even think.
For starters, I think about education, and how we can use it to better our future. I think about my friends and what I can do to make sure that they aren't mad, or upset, or frustrated, or stressed. I think about people who are less fortunate than I am, and I think of how grateful I am to be where I am. I think of justice, and how rarely it's actually served. I think of the past, because the past is a key to unlocking the future. I think of the present, because it's just that-a present. I think of the future, because it's what we all strive for-a better one. I think of the way that we should do things-quickly, effectively, and calmly. I think of all that I can be, what I can do, and how I can make a difference. I spent a weekend arguing a case, and listening to ideas that could change the world if people bothered to listen to logic. I think rationally, and I think irrationally when I don't care, or when I'm upset, and most of all? I think about how much better the world could be if there was no war, and there was no sorrow.  I know it sounds cliched, but it's true. There's so much that my generation has the potential to do, and there's so much that we aren't able to because we aren't listened to until it's too late. The 1960's and 70's were periods of change that was mostly for the better, and it was because the youth of the nation was able to band together and petition. There's too much wrong with division of the masses, and separation for one reason or another that it could be hundreds of years before we're even given the opportunity to get together again and show the world what the youth can do, and all that we can be. My weekend was spent listening to bills about how to advance welfare, and how to protect the integrity of the education system, and I spent it in the nation's capitol. From the Youth and Government Program of New York State, 55 proposed bills were then passed by the actual New York State government, and then 15 are now federal laws and regulations. Democracy is learned by each generation, but if these great ideas are stifled, how can we move ahead and change what needs to be changed?
The world is a complicated place because we make it that way. There are so many ways to make life easier for ourselves, and not even just because of technology. If we took advantage of services and help provided to us, and we gave back what we needed, then life could be the way the it should be-simple.

As the Cold Dark Winter Comes... and then goes

So, my school has officially gotten more classy. We have an unofficial smut list. For those of you who don't know what a smut is, it's basically a slut, but at the same time, it's a different classification of porn that really objectifies women. Thankfully, I am not on said smut list, and I'm very grateful for that. But this? This is a clear example of bullying that I was talking about. It's wrong, and within the past week, there have been 152 hits about it, but within the pasurs, there were 2 articles written, and those were only about bullying as a whole. We fail to realize that cyber bullying can be just as hurtful to those being bullied. That facebook status that says "The girl you just called fat? She's been starving herself and has lost over 30 lbs. The boy you just called stupid? He has a learning disability and studies over 4 hrs a night. The girl you just called ugly? She spends hours putting makeup on hoping people will like her. The boy you just tripped? He's abused enough at home. Post this as your status if you're against bullying." only really references bullying that everyone can be aware of, but you have cyber bullying as well, which causes just as much damage-if not more. I've looked up some statistics for you.
  • One in four children is bullied, usually by peers at school, and it's usually verbal bullying.
  • 77% of all students are bullied, and of that 77%, 14% admit to having a lot of psychological scarring because of it.
  • One in every five kids admits to doing some kind of bullying.
  • Every 7 minutes, a child is bullied. Adult intervention occurs 4% of the time, peer intervention occurs 11% of the time, but 85% of the time, there is no intervention.
  • 100,000 students will carry a gun to school each year.
  • 282,000 students are violently attacked each year by their classmates.
For the record, those statistics were not made up. There are more, and if you're curious, you can go to http://www.pascack.k12.nj.us/70271919141818/lib/70271919141818/Bullying_Statistics.htm and there's more information there. The fact that only 4% of the time there's adult intervention for bullying sickens me. It's actually disgusting to know that's how faculty and adults respond so ambivalently to bullying, and the top five worst places for bullying are:
  1. California
  2. New York
  3. Illinois (kinda random, but okay)
  4. Pennsylvania
  5. Washington (state, not DC)
It's kind of sickening the facts that you can find out online about bullying and what it does, isn't it? Hazing is bullying. Everything you can think of that's rude, offensive, and mean is bullying, and 77% of all students are bullied at one point or another.... yeah, more than 3/4 for people who aren't mathematically inclined, much like myself. Teens who are bullied are more likely to become suicidal or even clinically depressed as backlash to this treatment. If you think that I'm kidding, I'm not. The "smut list" that was started at school caused a girl to leave because she was crying. She's not even a whore, and she's still a virgin. Please, explain to me how she makes it onto that list? Is it because of the boy that she dated who cheated on her? Or is it because she likes to party? I really have no idea, but the fact that people feel as though they can get away with this kind of bullshit is sickening and it's offensive.
I'm pretty sure that I talked about bullying and suicide for being a homosexual, but even if you aren't, it's still important to know something about how drastic this is. 88% of all cyber bullying takes place on a cell phone, which is where the list started out in my school. With developments in technology, there are more and more ways to hurt another person's feelings, and many school shootings are in backlash to bullying.

Yeah, so I just wanted to let you guys know about that, and my music for today is:

I've got friends in high and low places?

So, I just started listening to the band Forever the Sickest Kids. The album "Underdog Alma Matter" is really good. There's a lot of things that I've started doing. For one, I re-read all of the older posts I've written, and I'm so happy that I've gotten older and can appreciate how silly I was back then. Also, I wanted to let you know that at my conference this past weekend, I won my case, I made judicial exemplar, and I was the best attorney in my courtroom of about 40 people, so I'm pretty happy. I also got accepted into Bowling Green State University in Ohio, so that's two schools so far that I've been accepted to.
I also noted this morning when I checked my blog that I have more followers. Who knows how often you guys are going to check this, but hey, it makes me feel better about myself, so if you want to tell your friends, go ahead. I'll keep writing anyways.
Today, I'm going to talk to you about something that's kind of big in the news. Education. I know that I've started to talk about education, but it's really important to me. Democracy needs to be learned by each generation. Every one should know the way that our government works, because one day, it will be ours. We will be the ones ruling for our various counties, states, and our "great" nation. If our nation were truly great, then every child would follow the news, and be defining people as "children", I'm using the federal definition under social security, which is 20. Every child would know who was representing them, and not just who the 7 members of the Jersey Shore house. I'll admit, I follow celebrity gossip almost as much as every other teenager, and I love to party and hang out, but if we aren't taught these things from a young age, then how are we supposed to grow into what would be a perfect democracy? Every morning in school, we say the pledge of alligence, and our youth are never taught what it means. Every day, we go to school, and we learn, but it's what a curriculum or a state wants us to know, never what should be taught. History is controlled by the victor, the modern English language is full of colloquialisms that others wouldn't understand, and some schools don't even give children the opportunity to study a foriegn language. Language determines the way we think. In Europe, they think "I have hunger", not "I am hungry". Some languages don't acknowledge the past as a tense. If we, as a nation don't step up in our children's education, then we doom our future. The children of today control not only the outcome of any problems, but also the amount of money that we can decrease from the deficit, and, the amount of money that we eventually will take back from social security. Having spent my entire weekend in the New York State Capitol, Albany, I learned a few things, and I plan on following everything that I possibly can. WE are the change, not the people who sit in congress and try to determine what's best for us. WE have a voice, and we don't utilize it nearly enough. WE are the future, and the future can always be changed. WE are citizens as well, so we should have a say. And lastly, EVERYONE controls the fate of the world, not just the senate, not just congress, not just the president, but EVERYONE in our "great" nation. I'm not asking to be elected to office, or to even start a cult. All I ask of anyone whose read this, take it to heart. We can control the future and lean things in OUR direction, make things go OUR way, and even try and fix problems going on in our own country, because there are so many more than we're even made aware of. By embracing these challenges, I propose to you, today, or whenever you read this, that you go out, you do research, and you come up with a way to change the way that our country runs. You can write a bill, just as much as any senator, and you can be the change that you wish to see in the world. My words may inspire you, and they may anger you. They may make you laugh at how stupid you think I am, or they may cause you to think. All I ask is that you don't remain indifferent, because indifference is a curse that we must not bear.

Again, all I ask is that you take what I just said to heart, but I'll give you the music now.

Getting There

I still don't know where I'm going, but as Pitbull says in the "Tik Tok" remix-If you don't know where you're from then you don't know where you're going, but I'm so lit, I don't know where I'm at, where I'm from or where I'm going. uh... today I'm too lazy, but I got the pink out of my hair, and I have to go shopping tomorrow for business wear, so that I look presentable for the youth and government conference this weekend, where I'll be arguing all weekend, with my partner. WAAAAAY too lazy to rant today.

Sometimes...

As a teenager, I've learned that we question everything, whether we want to or not. Parents may get upset, but it's a natural part of cognitive development. If you ever talk to an atheist, like myself, and ask them when they "converted", many people our age will say 7th or 8th grade. If your parents ask, which, we all know they will, you now have a valid excuse. According to my psychology textbook, "Psychology and Life", children go through four periods of cognitive growth. I'm pretty sure that I covered part of it a while back. In the 4th stage, known as the formal operational stage, children begin to question everything going on in the world, like their sense of faith, justice, and even what they think of their parents. This gives you the excuse to question them. Oh, by the way-you're still in this stage of formal operations. From the time that we're 12 all the way into death, we're in this stage. While there are other stages of thought as well, we can also go through Maslow's hierarchy of needs too-which puts us teenagers normally within the 3rd level (or, for those of us who aren't actual psychologists, attachment) or on the 4th level(which is pretty much the need for education and learning.) Psychological development is important, and a lot of the time, it has to do with what we as individuals feel.

I feel almost like that was a rant enough.... So, I'm gonna leave it at that's for now, and we can ponder philosophy later. I just have one question- If given the choice between education and military, which do you choose? By the way, there's no in between.

My bed feels...

You know that feeling when you get home from a trip where you're forced to stay overnight, and then your bed feels really nice? Yeah, story of my life, especially this month, considering that I'll be running from place to place. I mean, I literally just got back from Washington DC (yes, I missed school. It's okay-you all have my permission to call me a lucky bitch. I won't get mad, I promise.)Friday, I leave for Albany, where I'll be at a conference all weekend, next weekend, I'm spending with my cousins for St. Patrick's Day. Us Irish folks have to go and party together that week. And then the following week is that All Time Low Concert! SO PUMPED!
Anyone who isn't a senior, here's my advice-COLLEGE SHIT SUCKS! Make sure you do as much of it as you can, whenever you can. It's a huge pain in the ass, and apply to colleges that waive your fee, so that you save a shit ton of money. This is also a segue into my topic for... the remaining hour and 17 minutes of the day.
EDUCATION. We need it, or so we're made to believe. We hear stories of people like Mark Zuckerberg, or those two guys who invented Google, and how they didn't finish college. We hear stories about millionaires of the past, and by the past I mean people such as Vanderbilt, Rockefeller, Carnegie, Nobel. There are plenty of them, but how did they get where they are? We're currently in a pretty shitty economic state right now, where everything is ultra-competitive, and the more education you have, the better, right? But if the United States entered one period of development thinking that if they worked hard, they would do well, why can't we see it like that again? If you think about it, Bill Gates got lucky. Half of the richest people in the world for inventions did exactly the same thing-got lucky. I don't mean they scored with women (or men, depending), I mean just what I said-they got lucky. They were in the right place at the right time, or they came up with the right thing-at the right time. If today's "right thing" involves more education (which at this point, looks like it's in the field of nanotechnology-which you need a lot of education for), then that "American Dream" from so long ago seems pointless.
I know that it must get pretty boring to anyone reading this (if people actually do) that I constantly reference history, but there are parallels. There's a book out called "Are We Rome?" (I haven't actually read it), but it's comparing the fall of the Roman empire to the fall of the United States as a world power. While the United States has only technically been a world power since we defeated the Spanish in the Spanish-American war in the 1890's, with the help of President Theodore Roosevelt, who led the country through one of the greatest periods of change ever. (If you're curious, go look up the his anti-trust laws, his support for the muckrakers, as well as his founding of the national parks-Yellowstone being the first... at least, I think so....) But note, about 15 years after Teddy's plans are put into action, and there's all this growth, we enter the great depression, in October of 1929. The 80's and 90's were great periods of change and economic growth, and look, 15 years later.... we're in a recession. Please, I can see parallels here, and I'm a 17 year old girl. You really can't argue with my logic there.
I just wanted to point out that history repeats itself, and education can be really beneficial, but there are some fields that it isn't necessary for, but you have to have the talent... as well as the drive in order to make sure that you can accomplish whatever it is without the education that makes our society so competitive. I'm sorry for the late post (as well as abandoning you all this weekend.... I had a good entry planned out about the history of Mardi Gras, but I'll save that for next year now)
I'm also going to bail on the music for tonight, simply because I'm tired, and I didn't actually find any good songs this weekend.... I'll leave you with one-not for small children of course. "L.G. F.U.A.D" by Motion City Soundtrack. Enjoy!
